The Chief Executive Officer, an ex-officio member of the Board, appointed in terms of section of the Mpumalanga Gambling Act, 1995, is responsible for the management of all operational, financial and administrative functions of the Mpumalanga Gambling Board. This includes advising and making recommendations to the Board on gambling related matters; submitting applications to the Board in respect of applications for licences; ensuring general compliance with the applicable legislative structures and enforcement of the law within the gambling industry and providing the assurance that principles of moral and social responsibility are adopted and maintained.
Investigations and Licensing Department
The principal objective of the Investigations & Licensing Department is to ensure the continued suitability of all persons (juristic and natural) who wish to enter or participate in the gambling industry within the Mpumalanga Province.

Gambling Control Department
The objective of the Gambling Control Department is to ensure that gambling is conducted in compliance with the Mpumalanga gambling legislation in an honest and fair manner. In addition, the Department seeks to enhance public confidence in legalised gambling establishments within the Province and to provide a secure environment for gambling that is fair and free from criminal influence.

Gambling Audit Department
To provide assurance that complete and accurate gambling levies are recorded as prescribed.
The principal objectives of Gambling Audit and Systems are to provide the Board and Provincial Government with the assurance that the gambling revenue and levies are accurately calculated, timeously paid by licensees and that applicable gambling legislation is complied with. The Department ensures that casino licensees maintain a level of continual financial suitability and furthermore, provides the assurance that the Computer Monitoring Systems (CMS) and peripheral gambling systems used by the licensees are reliable and functioning according to the gambling legislative framework and specifications.
Legal Services Department
The objectives of the Legal Services Department are to render support to the Board, CEO and the line function Departments of the MGB; provide legal advice and render company secretariat services to the Board. The Department makes recommendations regarding amendments to the MGB Act, Regulations and Rules, evaluates licensees' jobs compendiums, as well as applications for dispensations on the MGB Rules and licensees' ICP's.
