The Mpumalanga Gambling Board (“MGB”) officially welcomed the newly crowned Miss Mpumalanga 2016, Elaine Mkhabela, last Thursday to initiate her into her new role as the Ambassador for responsible gambling in the Province.
Mkhabela, a 20 year-old, BSc student at Wits, was crowned on Saturday evening at the 6th Crowning Miss Mpumalanga event held in Mbombela, at Church on the Hill, organised by Mzimari Productions and the MGB, as event organiser and sponsor, respectively. We welcome the queen into the MGB family and wish her a successful tenure of leading and inspiring fellow ‘young minds’ to a developmental path full of opportunities.
We pride ourselves for providing, since 2011, an avenue for young women to thrive as role models and women leaders to inspire positive change within our communities. Through this initiative, we are addressing many social and moral issues in society, especially for the aspiring young people, who are now obliged to avoid teenage pregnancies, drugs, and many immoral activities that would disqualify them from participating in the crowning initiative.
Elaine’s duties begins now – and it entails, promoting awareness on the negative effects of gambling, awareness of illegal gambling, and interacting with young people dissuading them from developing harmful gambling habits.
We are immensely satisfied and impressed by the level of excellence in the event build up, the production and the final showdown. We owe our gratitude to the triumphant partnership with Mzimari Productions and Mpumalanga News, as the media partner throughput the campaign and not forgetting the support from our Provincial Government, which made everything possible.
